LAUNCH UTRECHT HOLDINGS SEED FUND

Utrecht Holdings (Knowledge Transfer Office of the UU and the UMCU) introduces a new, 7,5-million-euro seed fund to invest in science-based startups, Utrecht Holdings Seed Fund.

During the launch, Margot van der Starre, vice-president of the Executive board of the UU, and Arno Hoes, vice-chairman of the board of directors of the UMCU, opened the fund by striking the gong together.

Gertine van der Vliet, director of Utrecht Holdings: ”As a KTO it is our aim to realize world-class knowledge transfer and stimulate excellent spinoffs based on science of UU and UMCU. Our Fund is a crucial part of the start of a new company and the involvement of other investors.”

“Early-stage investing is an important tool in Utrecht Holdings’ impact toolkit” said Timo Koopmans, Investment manager at Utrecht Holdings. “I look forward to continuing investing in promising spin-offs through this new fund”.

This fund reflects the research focus of its investors, Utrecht University and University Medical Center Utrecht: Life Sciences / Medtech, Digital Innovation and Sustainability. Utrecht Holdings Seed Fund hopes to follow the success of the Utrecht Health Seed Fund, also managed by Utrecht Holdings.
