We have welcomed Anna Degen as our new colleague!

Below, a short introduction from Anna.

“My goal is to help your research make a real-world impact.

Having spent years both at the lab bench and at the negotiation table, I know that translating brilliant science into a product available to patients requires many steps – and early consideration. I joined Utrecht Holdings as a Business Developer to work with researchers at UU and UMC Utrecht to navigate this journey.

My background is in the life sciences, I did my PhD in enzyme engineering at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and have conducted research at EMBL in Heidelberg, and the MRC LMB in Cambridge. I understand the dedication, the timelines, and the unique challenges of academic research.

After transitioning from academia to industry, I spent six years in commercial and operational roles at a peptide-focused, GMP certified CRO/CDMO, most recently as Site Manager and Commercial Lead of Peptide Discovery. With insights into drug discovery, (pre-)clinical development and manufacturing, regulatory aspects, contract negotiations and licensing, I look forward to sharing my experience with scientists in Utrecht looking to “Make it Matter”.
