GelMap: intrinsic calibration and deformation mapping for expansion microscopy

Yesterday, the final paper of Hugo Damstra’s PhD thesis, former PhD student in the group of Prof. dr. Lukas Kapitein was published in Nature Methods: GelMap: intrinsic calibration and deformation mapping for expansion microscopy | Nature Methods.

The paper describes a novel, flexible workflow called ‘GelMap’ to introduce a fluorescent grid into pre-expanded hydrogels that scales with expansion and accurately reports deformations. This finding allows for better sample navigation and holds promise for QC applications in the rapidly developing field of Expansion Microscopy.
